Seminar: Building a SPECT System For Real Time Dose Monitoring During Boron Neutron Capture Therapy Treatment.

Speaker: Tommaso Ferri, PhD student at Politecnico di Milano

Title: Building a SPECT System For Real Time Dose Monitoring During Boron Neutron Capture Therapy Treatment.

Abstract:

Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) is a promising therapy for cancer treatment. In this presentation, the therapy will be discussed highlighting the main advantages and limitations that slowed down research in the past. We will then present how Politecnico di Milano is contributing to the research in BNCT, concentrating on the detector hardware and pinhole collimator, and the use of a neural network for positioning of the detected events. We will also briefly outline possible developments on using this system for imaging during treatment.
