We are delighted to announce that we are organising a training school providing hands-on exercises related to basic principles of iterative image reconstruction and associated modelling of the medical imaging acquisition process, focusing on Positron Emission Tomography (PET).
The school will start with a short lecture on basic concepts in PET image reconstruction and an introduction to the Open Source software Synergistic Image Reconstruction Framework (SIRF). This will be followed by group-based practical sessions using SIRF in Python for PET data manipulation and reconstruction. An introduction on concepts of optimisation, iterative reconstruction algorithms and regularisation will be given with examples using the Core Imaging Library(CIL) .
No software installation will be required: the sessions will be based on our Jupyter notebook training material. Participants will have access to the material in the cloud and will work in groups, allocated according to their familiarity with Python and PET image reconstruction.
The school would be useful for participants in our second PET Rapid Image Reconstruction Challenge who are not familiar with SIRF and CIL.
Please bear in mind that the availability is limited – first come first serve.
